1979

As the last post was disco, mainly 1979 I thought maybe I should make a note on other tracks that made 1979 such an incredible year..

The Knack released My Sherona, Rod Stewart was asking if you thought he was sexy...The biggest hits were Blondie's Heart of Glass, Gloria Gaynor's I Will Survive stateside while here it was (gulp) Y.M.C.A.

Other notable singles released this year include
Are Friends Electric, Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick, Ring My Bell, Boys Don't Cry, Oliver's Army, Roxanne, Since You've Been Gone, Cool For Cats, Accidents Will Happen, Rappers Delight, I Wanna Be Sedated, Eton Rifles, Cars, Train In Vain, Hot Stuff, Video Killed The Radio Star, One Way or Another, Tears Of A Clown, Le Freak,  Bat Out Of Hell, Love Don't Live Here Any More, Sultans of Swing, Reasons To Be Cheerful, Cruel to Be Kind, I Want Your Love, Can't Stand Losing You....
...way way too many to list or I will end up with jitters borne out of neglecting something very important.

Instead, here are a few that make me smile. With more to follow when I get around to it.

Rick Davies didn't want this track on the album and nor did he want the album titled Breakfast In America according to Roger Hodgson but it was their biggest selling album nevertheless. Far bigger in America than here in the UK....but just what is a Supertramp?

Up the Junction was a novel by Neil Dunn which was televised in 1965 and directed by Ken Loach.  Portrayal of life in Clapham/Battersea. Its like a short film of its own this one.
Squeeze

Ah, the next one..... what can I say? Hi bear.
(don't call me scarface)

The lead single "Statue of Liberty" from their debut LP, White Noise was banned from the BBC for making 'lewd suggestions' about the statue..."I sail beneath your skirt"
But this is from XTC's third album, and this time it was British Steel that weren't happy..
Making Plans For Nigel, TOTP 19 Oct - they look great

This is more disco but this is a real favourite of mine. I know its cheesy as fuck but I've danced every time I have ever heard it - whether in a cafe grabbing a coffee or in a club in east london with lisa, abi, choccy and alex

and this footage from the forum in 1979
